San Diego Long Range Tuna Lures

Question:

I fish for Bluefin Tuna out of Sand Diego, California and I was wondering what lures I need for both casting and trolling and would I need long range?

Answer:

Hi Ralph,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We appreciate your interest very much.
We have some great products for your long range trip. Here are my recommendations based on our customer’s success on previous trips.
1. 5.5” Protail Paddle: Sight casting breaking fish on the surface feeding on small bait. Black, Green Silver, Bone are good colors.
2. 4oz Tuna Epoxy Jig: Similar action to a surface iron, but featuring longer casting range and ultra realistic color patterns: Green, Bone or Blue Silver are great colors.
3. For trolling, I’d recommend our 6oz Harness Jig. These can be trolled in close to the boat wash, or Way way back in the slick water. Low drag and easy to fish on a variety of gear. Try Bone, Pink or Olive.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. I’m very happy to help!
