Captain Tucker Blythe’s Profile

Profile: Tucker Blythe, 30 yrs old. Base my fishing out of Charleston, SC. Been fishing since I was too young to remember. Grew up in Charlotte, NC. Started fly fishing the NC mountain streams for native trout, did alot of bass fishing in lakes and ponds as well, moved to Charleston for College and became hooked on saltwater fishing. Graduated with a Biology degree from the College of Charleston. I lived for a short period of time after college in San Diego, where I kayak fished for yellowtail and calico bass. I enjoy fishing because I am constantly learning new things. I feel like I can always improve and I also enjoy teaching others what I have learned.

Location: Charleston, SC

About fishing location: Charleston, SC is an area of vast marsh systems. There is a myriad of tidal creeks, rivers, bays, and sounds. Fishing remains good throughout the year and offers different species seasonally. Redfish, Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, Flounder, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Tarpon, Amberjack, Spadefish, and Barracuda are the species that I like to target. Charleston is a city rich in history and culture. The surrounding waters offer a retreat that is a world class fishery.

Fishing Philosophy: My philosophy on fishing is to always keep an open opinion on how to fish. Listen to others and take note of what seems to work and what doesn’t. I like to keep a log as detailed as possible with weather patterns, tidal phase, moon stage, bait selection, etc… I also like to fish as much as possible, the more time you spend on the water the better you become.
