Q&A: Hogy Swim Bait Hook Sizing

Question:

Hello I’m confused with the size description of the following hook: Hogy Weighted HSBH10 Swimbait Hook

1. What size hook is on here HSBH10. What does the “10 designate”
2. Do you have Barbarian hooks that are weighted and not weighted that work with 5-7” swimbaits?
3. What is the weight of a HSBH10 hook weigh?

Thanks for your time,

Eddy C. – Maryland

Answer:

H10SILVER HSBH10

Eddy,

Thanks for reaching out to us. We appreciate your business very much.

1) “10” designates the hook size of 10/0.

2) We have weighted 6/0 Barbarian Swim Bait Hooks that are perfect for 5″ – 7″ swimbaits: http://shop.hogylures.com/category/3000/Barbarian-Tournament-Grade-Swim-Bait-Hooks/1.html

3) The HSBH10 weight is 1/3oz

Please let me know if you have any other questions, I’m very happy to help.

  1. I have an inshore fishing charter business. We fish a bay in 10 to 45 feet water. The water is clean but dark so you can’t do sight casting for tarpon. We have alot of tarpons and jack. We mostly do drift fishing with light bait. 95% of the time. We will like suggestion for using your the soft plastic lures in this type of setting. Please let me know if drifting this bait are a productive technic or what you recommend. Thanks. Cap. Luis
